Digital Confidence is a practical 12-week program that empowers adults with little or no digital experience to understand, use, and feel confident with technology. From learning how devices work to managing online banking or accessing NHS services, each week focuses on real-world applications through live demonstrations, supported practice, and simple language.
Participants will not only develop basic digital skills — they’ll also gain independence, feel more connected, and be able to take advantage of digital opportunities in health, work, and everyday life.
Week 1: Introduction & Using Your Device
- Learn how to confidently use PCs, smartphones, and tablets. Explore key components like the CPU and RAM, operating systems, accessibility tools, settings, and how to connect and use basic peripherals (mouse, keyboard, printer).
Week 2: Getting Started Online
- Understand how to use web browsers and search engines effectively. Learn how to find accurate information and avoid fake news and misinformation online.
Week 3: Mastering Email
- Set up email accounts, send and receive messages, organize your inbox, and spot suspicious emails and scams.
Week 4: Cloud Computing
- Discover what cloud storage is and how to use tools like Google Drive and OneDrive for saving, syncing, and sharing files.
Week 5: Online Safety & Security
- Create strong passwords, recognize scams, browse safely, and manage your privacy settings to protect your information online.
Week 6: Staying in Touch
- Explore communication tools like WhatsApp, Messenger, SMS, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams to stay connected with family, friends, and services.
Week 7: Money & Media Online
- Learn how to shop and pay safely online, and access entertainment platforms like YouTube, iPlayer, music apps, and podcasts.
Week 8: Online Health & NHS App
- Download, register, and navigate the NHS App. Learn to book GP appointments, order prescriptions, and manage your healthcare online.
Week 9: Using Office Tools
- Gain basic skills in Microsoft Word and Excel. Learn how to format, save, and share documents securely.
Week 10: Employment & Job Search
- Use job boards, upload CVs, practice professional email communication, and understand how to use LinkedIn to apply for jobs and build your visibility.
Week 11: Managing Your Money Online
- Explore digital banking apps, budgeting tools, and how to protect yourself from online financial fraud and scams.
Week 12: Course Recap & Next Steps
- Celebrate your progress, share successes, receive your certificate, and discover next steps for continued learning or employment support.
